WildAugust owner, Jennifer Wilson, has a heart for flowers and gardens, but she is also a certified teacher who holds a master's degree in education. After spending fifteen years in the classroom, she left teaching to pursue WildAugust full time. It turns out she brought the classroom with her though. In 2019, WildAugust, in partnership with the Cameron County Master Gardeners, began welcoming elementary-age students in grades K-5 to the flower farm for garden- and nature-based field trips.
Most field trips begin at 10 am and finish by 1 pm. Students spend one hour rotating through 15-minute centers, then enjoy a scavenger hunt, a short story, and lunch under the Market pavilion beside the flower field.
Cost is $8 per student, and a minimum of 20 students is required to book a field trip.
